Originally developed as a typeface for personal use, Starter has evolved into a comprehensive linear neo-grotesque family. Spanning a wide range of styles — from uprights to italics and monospaced cuts — it blends meticulous craftsmanship with a contemporary tone. Starter works exceptionally well for both small texts and larger headlines. First drawn in 2017 under the name “Sonntags Grotesk” as part of my bachelor’s thesis, the typeface was refined and extended in early 2018. The initial release included Regular, Medium, and Bold weights, followed by Light and Black in 2019. Finally, Thin and Ultra weights completed the family in late 2024. The fully revised version of the type- faces features 30 styles — ten weights with matching italics and monos — each equipped with an extended Latin character set and a broad range of OpenType features.
